Job Summary

Cambro Manufacturing Co. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Handling Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our production operations, you will be responsible for supervising and directing material handlers, mold set-up technicians, and trainees to ensure efficient and effective production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct material handlers, mold set-up technicians, and trainees to ensure compliance with safety procedures and production standards.
  • Coordinate and maintain all activities involving the material handling system process and procedures.
  • Control and maintain inventories of resins and colorants, mold changes, mold change components, regrind department, inventory, safety, cleanliness, and movement of Finished Goods pallets.
  • Review daily production schedules and set priorities based on customer requirements and resources available.
  • Coordinate activities with various positions and personnel in the injection molding department and with supporting department personnel to accomplish specific assigned goals and objectives.
  • Train and develop material handlers and mold set-up technicians to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Lead by example and promote a culture of safety, quality, and respect within the team.
  • Monitor and enforce department safety and production procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with prior and oncoming shifts to ensure a smooth transition of work assignments and expectations.
  • Maintain housekeeping to meet department expectations.
  • Assume the role of senior tech supervisor in their absence.
  • Interpret company policies to employees and enforce safety regulations.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inventory of materials and regrind as needed.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependableness to meet the department's and the organization's needs.
  • Perform effectively as a team member, work well with others, and treat everyone respectfully.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria and raise concerns and issues to the immediate manager.
  • Able to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture and display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
  • Understand the department's key performance indicators and contribute to achieving these goals both individually and as a team.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ten years of injection molding experience specifically in the area set-up, material handling, and start-up and processing of thermoplastic injection resins.
  • Excellent knowledge of the injection molding process, materials, molds, and machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group of people to accomplish a predetermined goal.
  • Knowledge to perform all aspects of the Material Handler, and all Set-up Technician levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
