As a Surgical Technician at Adventist Health, you will play a vital role in the operating room, assisting the surgical team in preparing for procedures and maintaining a sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases.
- Perform a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Collect data on assigned surgical cases and complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards.
- Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities, and provide clerical duties as needed.
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate's/Technical Degree or higher in completion of a Surgical Technician program: Required
- Scrub technician experience: Preferred
- Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Surgery Technician certification: Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certification: Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential: Required in HI within one year of hire
