Job Summary

As a Surgical Technician at Adventist Health, you will play a vital role in the operating room, assisting the surgical team in preparing for procedures and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases.
  • Perform a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Collect data on assigned surgical cases and complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards.
  • Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities, and provide clerical duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or higher in completion of a Surgical Technician program: Required
  • Scrub technician experience: Preferred
  • Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Surgery Technician certification: Preferred
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certification: Required
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential: Required in HI within one year of hire
