Job Summary

Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) at Tarrant County Juvenile Services play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to youth in a unique and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic technical LVN procedures in the Juvenile Center.
  • Provide direct patient care and professional clinical assistance to Registered Nurses.
  • Administer immunizations, PO medications, and other injections as directed by the RN or assist other nurses as requested.
  • Gather blood and other specimen samples as needed.
  • Document appropriate information in client records and reports relevant information to the Medical Services Supervisor and Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information as outlined in HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educate clients on various medications and the importance of adherence to medications.
  • Deliver quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in condition of patients.
  • Monitor medical supply inventory and account for vaccines and testing materials.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings.
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of nursing.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED or higher education.
  • One (1) full-time year of related work experience.
  • Professional LVN training through an accredited program resulting in licensure.
  • Current Texas LVN license.
  • Current and valid driver license and acceptable driving record and proof of liability insurance.
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, grasp/squeeze, use hand tools, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, tolerate noise, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, perform repetitive tasks, see color, see far and near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, twist, use hands, drive a vehicle, walk, and work alone and with others. Exposure to active infectious disease and body fluids.
