Position Overview:

The Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering radiation therapy treatments safely and effectively, utilizing state-of-the-art linear accelerators, including TrueBeam and Edge. This position involves recording and verifying treatment plans, as well as simulating patients according to the directives of radiation oncologists.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Executing routine, complex, and specialized procedures while integrating and administering innovative technologies. Advanced patient procedures encompass stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT), and the application of ARIA electronic radiation oncology software, along with optical guidance and respiratory management techniques.

• Preparing treatment rooms to ensure optimal patient positioning.

• Clearly explaining all procedures to patients, reinforcing guidance from radiation oncologists and nursing staff regarding skin care, dietary needs, general well-being, and potential treatment reactions.

• Monitoring patients' emotional and physical responses to treatment.

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to guarantee comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

• Upholding hospital-wide customer service initiatives.

• Taking responsibility for equipment knowledge, reviewing patient charts, maintaining accurate patient records, fulfilling continuing education requirements, and performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited radiography program recognized by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) or an equivalent institution.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or an equivalent body.
  • Current New York State license in Radiologic Technology and active ARRT registry.
  • Preferred experience in the field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Commitment to meeting continuing education standards.
  • Aptitude for identifying and responding appropriately to emergency situations, including both internal and external crises and medical emergencies.
