Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary:
Maui Medical Group is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for coding office and hospital procedures for providers, reviewing and analyzing diagnoses and procedures codes used by providers, and providing education for providers to improve coding and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Code office and hospital procedures for providers in accordance with established coding guidelines.
2. Review and analyze diagnoses and procedures codes used by providers for assigned providers prior to submission of charges.
3. Ensure strict confidentiality of all patient information.
4. Assist with audits of records in accordance with established coding guidelines.
5. Provide education for providers to improve coding and documentation.
6. Attend seminars and in-services as required to remain current on coding issues.
7. Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* High School Diploma
* Medical Coding Certificate - RHIT or CPC certification is required
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Two years experience using ICD10-CM, CPT, HCPCs or equivalency
* Computer competency
* Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
* Maintains a positive attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
* Possesses coding/auditing experience with a current certification
* Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication
Work Environment:
This position requires prolonged sitting. Some bending, stooping, and stretching for files and supplies may be required. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment is necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
Hourly Rate:
Starting at $25.44 per hour, based on experience.
