Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Specialist to join our team at the Marion County Indiana Sheriff's Office. As a Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for greeting and serving the public, answering and returning telephone calls related to Indiana Department of Revenue taxes and Indiana Department of Workforce Development unemployment taxes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer inquiries and assist with setting up payment arrangements, calculating interest rates, fees, and due balances.
  • Produce receipts for received payments and compose and dispatch notice of payment due, 72-hour balance notice, and levies for due balances.
  • Notate taxpayer data into internal Gross Tax Systems and utilize systems for organization and record keeping of payments, non-payments, bankruptcies, and written responses.
  • Operate basic Microsoft applications, outlook, word, excel, and adobe, and note all bank levies in system of no accounts, closed accounts, and or holds.
  • Collaborate with Indiana Department of Revenue, National Bank of Indianapolis, and other financial institutions on a daily basis.
  • Sort, distribute, open, organize, and log incoming mail and payments.
Requirements
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Civilian Employees shall have her/his principal place of residence within the boundaries of Marion County within six months of employment.
