Position Overview

This role is responsible for the daily operational support of various business and administrative functions, overseeing shipment and receiving processes, and managing physical inventories for GP&L Transmission and Distribution operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, productive atmosphere, ensuring all internal customer needs are met promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee, reconcile, and initiate orders for services, materials, and supplies.
  • Maintain and update inventory and purchasing records, including quantities, types, and values.
  • Verify and document records for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Provide training to warehouse personnel on proper inventory management procedures.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Manage warehouse inventory, ensuring accurate records for tool issuance and receipt, documenting conditions, performing minor repairs, and ordering replacements for worn or damaged items.
  • Establish and maintain purchase orders for vendor payments.
  • Utilize the WASP barcoding system to maintain and enhance inventory.
  • Ensure safety protocols for linemen and manage the glove room, including quarterly changes and lab inventory.
  • Communicate supply chain issues to management and propose actions to mitigate risks, providing updates on inventory levels for strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate necessary repairs for facilities within the T&D Departments.
  • Assist the Logistics Specialist with vehicle transportation for inspections and repairs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
  • Three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role.
Preferred Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Completion of some college courses or training beyond the high school level.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, customer service, and/or administrative support.
  • Two years of inventory management experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of business practices and procedures.
  • Intermediate proficiency in PC and systems applications.
  • Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to multitask.
  • Adaptability to various work environments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Capacity to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 45 pounds.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying temperatures, precipitation, noise, and physical demands from lifting and exertion. Physical tasks may include heavy lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, and navigating uneven surfaces.
