Summary: Enhance and improve the SRIM experience by providing heartful care for residents and their families. Demonstrate and promote SRIM's core value of the golden rule by treating residents, families, visitors, and associates with respect and dignity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in admission of new residents and perform assigned nursing procedures for their comfort and well-being.
  • Administer specified medications and supervise non-licensed nursing staff.
  • Participate in the evaluation of non-licensed staff and perform duties as assigned.
  • Meet with oncoming and departing licensed practical nurses to discuss resident conditions and any occurrences from the shift.
  • Count controlled substances with off-going nurses and assume responsibility for assuring accuracy of count before accepting keys.
  • Check, order, and administer prescribed medication with 100% accuracy.
  • Ensure medication cart is locked at all times and never pre-pour medications.
  • Obtain pertinent information and complete all required forms as established by policy and procedure.
  • Complete and maintain the ECC and LNS logs, service plan, progress notes, monthly summaries, and follow healthcare providers' orders.
  • Assist in completing evaluations when needed for residents.
  • Provide hands-on care on an as-needed basis to meet the needs of residents.
  • Work with the ADORS in reviewing and investigating all incident reports and recommend appropriate action and follow-up to the DORS/Executive Director.
  • Understand and adhere to ALF regulations pertaining to assisted living healthcare laws.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.
  • Practice good body mechanics and safe working habits.
  • Know, understand, and follow established policy and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Provide daily feedback on associates' performance and participate in their performance evaluations when requested by the DORS.
  • Ensure associates participate in activities provided to residents as described in the activities calendar.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to residents' requests for assistance, including phone calls and requests from family and visitors.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment for all residents.
  • Support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
  • Wear clean and appropriate dress per established policy.
  • Understand and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Be considered essential personnel especially during emergencies.
  • Take the initiative in work, seek out additional information, and offer solutions/suggestions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervise employees in the Resident Services/Nursing Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
