We are in search of a Middle School History Educator who will instruct grades 5-8 and is dedicated, ambitious, and committed to fostering student success and educational reform.
Qualified candidates must showcase a record of accomplishments, a high degree of personal accountability, and the determination to ensure that every child achieves academic success.
This individual must be committed to excellence, lead by example, and view collaboration as a vital element of success. Successful candidates will possess a strong sense of urgency to enhance student learning.Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering History curriculum aligned with Common Core Standards.
- Adapting curriculum to accommodate diverse student needs.
- Fostering a classroom culture where students develop a passion for History.
- Guiding students through the exploration of historical trends and developments, analyzing primary source documents, and composing thematic essays.
- Implementing project-based learning to help students appreciate historical perspectives.
- Engaging with historical texts through close readings and comprehensive writing assignments.
- Assisting students in preparing for state assessments in History.
- Crafting weekly lesson plans that align with state curriculum goals and objectives while employing a variety of teaching strategies to keep students engaged and motivated.
- Familiarizing oneself with the school's charter, standardized testing, and overall performance goals.
- Utilizing assessments, classroom performance, and other diagnostic tools to evaluate student progress promptly to facilitate small group instruction and identify curricular and professional development needs.
- Assessing student academic and social development, maintaining accurate records, preparing progress reports, and communicating with parents regarding individual student progress.
- Demonstrating strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Upholding the institution's reputation by acting with integrity and honesty.
- Recognizing and valuing the unique characteristics of middle school students.
This position reports to the school principal.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- NYS Teaching Certification or equivalent from another state in the relevant area.
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the middle school level is required.
- Familiarity with History curriculum is preferred.
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Candidates who do not meet the above qualifications will not be considered.
