Job Overview

This role involves collaborating closely with the quality assurance lead and essential processing staff to gather and evaluate various sample types throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect raw, in-process, and finished product samples from designated areas.
  • Engage in cleaning and sanitation verification activities, including equipment swabbing.
  • Calibrate laboratory, quality control, and process monitoring equipment.
  • Conduct physical, visual, and sensory evaluations.
  • Perform chemical and microbiological analyses.
  • Document all findings in logbooks and communicate results with production teams for immediate feedback.
  • Maintain shelf-life samples and assist in product evaluations.
  • Conduct plant audits and inspections.
  • Ensure personal and colleague safety at all times.
  • Manage laboratory supplies effectively.
  • Adhere to and enhance laboratory and quality control policies and procedures.
  • Support production staff as needed to inspect and analyze materials.
  • Follow additional instructions as directed by the supervisor.

Candidate Attributes:

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and accuracy, demonstrate dependability and tact, and have good manual dexterity. Physical capabilities include vision abilities (close, distance, color, and focus), the ability to push, pull, lift, and carry at least 30 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally, and the capacity to stand for the entire shift while performing repetitive movements (e.g., twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capable of applying common sense and understanding to fulfill written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and effectively address problems.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English; bilingual in English/Spanish is advantageous. Must comprehend simple instructions and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Mathematics: Ability to perform calculations involving proportions and percentages.
  • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of personal safety practices and basic organizational skills.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a food industry setting is preferred.
  • A stable and reliable work history.
