About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Petco. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to their owners.
Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, and euthanasias.
- Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications, and maintain electronic medical records.
- Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, relay test results to doctors and clients, and manage accounts receivable.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, safely support induction and monitoring of anesthetized patients, and monitor patients during recovery.
- Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients, including giving injectable and oral medications, and keep patients clean, watered, and fed as needed.
- College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located.
- At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate and sympathetic, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
