ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Financial Reporting Specialist is a key member of the General Ledger team within the Finance Division, playing a vital role in the organization’s accounting processes by overseeing and validating financial transactions. Responsibilities include maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, as well as executing month-end closing activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles to effectively analyze financial reports and forecasts. Collaboration with fellow Finance team members is essential to provide support related to financial transactions and reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Controller in executing the responsibilities of the General Ledger team.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with Finance Team members to ensure precision and efficiency in accounting tasks.
  • Support the processes for month-end and year-end financial closings.
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger management.
  • Generate financial and budget reports according to established schedules.
  • Assist in external audits to guarantee compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate compliance with state requirements for annual financial report filings.
  • Maintain records of fixed assets and related journal entries.
  • Contribute to the department's goal-setting initiatives.
  • Work alongside the Controller to enhance financial procedures and ensure adherence to GAAP standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required, which may include related or unrelated tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of two to four years of progressive experience in the accounting sector, with a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in major accounting software, particularly NetSuite.

SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Adherence to the Cognia code of ethics.
  • Fostering positive and collaborative relationships within the Finance Division and across the organization.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Limited travel (0-10%) may be required.
  • Attendance at the Annual All Staff Company Meeting is mandatory.
