Job Description for Department Manager at Runnings

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to join our team at Runnings. As a Department Manager, you will be responsible for leading the merchandising and sales efforts within your assigned department, providing exceptional customer service, and working closely with the Store Manager to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Merchandising and Sales: Direct and coordinate the merchandising of assigned products, set priorities for distribution of new merchandise, and ensure adequate inventory in all areas of the assigned department.
  • Customer Service: Assist customers with purchases, provide product information, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Team Management: Assist with the training and direction provided to new department team members, and ensure that safety is practiced when handling merchandise by employees and customers.
  • Communication: Work closely with Retail Buyers to ensure awareness of assigned department product needs and other product information.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma preferred.
  • Experience: Customer Service training and/or experience preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to work an irregular schedule, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, long periods of standing, and frequent bending and twisting.
Working Environment:

The Department Manager will work in a retail store environment, utilizing various equipment and tools such as computers, calculators, cash registers, telephones, and fax machines.
