We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Dental Assistant Instructor to join our team at Iowa Central Community College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and developing coursework within the Dental Assisting program, as well as serving as a clinical instructor within our on-campus Dental clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Teach and develop coursework within the Dental Assisting program, including Principles of Dental Assisting, Dental Materials, Oral Embryology, Dental Specialties, Pharmacology, Radiology, Oral Pathology, Office Procedures, and Clinical Practicum courses.
- Serve as a clinical instructor within our on-campus Dental clinic, providing hands-on training and supervision to students.
- Assess student learning and progress, providing frequent and specific feedback to students regarding their attainment of learning outcomes.
- Develop and utilize teaching strategies based on current research and best practices in dental education.
- Contribute to the achievements of department mission, goals, and objectives, including developing and updating courses and course guides as assigned by the Dean.
- Encourage regular attendance and retention of students, including personally contacting students following absences to offer assistance and concern for their welfare.
- Maintain scheduled office hours to ensure accessibility to students and colleagues, and maintain adequate and accurate records on class attendance and student grades.
- Certified Dental Assistant with a bachelor's degree or willing to acquire a bachelor's degree within three years of initial hire, or a Dentist with a DMD or DDS degree, licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa, and three years of clinical experience as a dental assistant, dental hygienist, or dentist.
- Master's Degree and/or Registered Dental Hygienist preferred. Previous work experience related to the job responsibilities highly recommended.
- Technology competency for instruction, communication, and professional contributions, as well as good communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team member.
