About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the educational mission of our veterinary teaching clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a team-based approach, working closely with veterinary students and clinical veterinarians.
  • Assist with patient restraint, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, dental cleaning, radiology, and other medical procedures.
  • Support front desk operations, including client communication, phone triage, and billing.
  • Ensure the clinic is fully stocked, clean, and orderly, and maintain inventory management and ordering.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including equipment maintenance and technical support.
Requirements
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • AVA or licensure eligible.
  • Solid office computer skills and strong technical background.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • CORI background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with a diverse student and client population.
  • Good technical ability, strong organizational skills, and ability to support students and clinical veterinarians.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and ability to deliver constructive feedback.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with variable duties.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn clinical laboratory techniques.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) or knowledge of another second language.
