POSITION OVERVIEW
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to become a vital part of our Sports/Joints Team in Central Texas.

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional with a strong work and training background, focused on providing exceptional patient care. This role requires effective collaboration with referring physicians, agencies, and other healthcare professionals within our integrated healthcare system.
The Physician Assistant in the Surgical Specialty - Non-Operative role is a licensed healthcare provider who delivers direct patient care, possesses delegated prescriptive authority, and is credentialed as an independent billing provider, in accordance with relevant healthcare regulations. The Advanced Practice Provider will deliver medical services as outlined by the supervising physician.
Our surgical team provides care for both adult and pediatric patients, specializing in various fields including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and more.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and gather detailed medical histories to assess patients' physical and mental health.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient conditions and healthcare needs.
- Prescribe and manage medical therapies and treatments, ensuring safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based practices, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Provide counseling to patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment options, and health promotion strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatment plans and outcomes, ensuring timely referrals when necessary.
- Offer specialized consultation services based on expertise and training.
- Manage patient care in various healthcare settings beyond primary clinics.
- Perform procedures within the scope of practice as delegated by the supervising physician.
- Conduct follow-up care for patients, including pre- and post-operative assessments.
- Be available for patient care duties as needed based on departmental requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- In-depth knowledge of medical practices for diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in computer systems and healthcare software.
- Ability to develop comprehensive treatment plans and counsel patients effectively.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM - Outpatient/Inpatient settings.
