Myatt Landscaping & Construction is on the lookout for a dedicated individual to develop and uphold a comprehensive schedule of services for effective horticultural practices across our projects. In this position, you will work closely with Account Managers and collaborate with teams to enhance and maintain plant life to the highest horticultural standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Account Managers and Installation Project Managers to guide teams in the careful maintenance, care, and installation of plant materials, ensuring compliance with strict horticultural guidelines.
- Create and manage a detailed service calendar informed by a deep understanding of seasonal changes, weather patterns, and specific plant requirements.
- Lead the development and execution of training initiatives for staff, emphasizing horticultural best practices, accurate pruning methods, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Exhibit proficiency in the holistic care of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annual flowers, covering tasks such as pruning, deadheading, pest management, mulching, fertilizing, and other seasonal responsibilities, regardless of weather conditions.
- Act as an effective communicator, capable of engaging with clients, the public, and working harmoniously with management and team members.
- Safely utilize and maintain all necessary tools and equipment for horticultural tasks.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Horticultural Science or relevant industry certification, along with at least 2 years of experience in managing complex horticultural gardens or landscapes.
- Possession of an NC Pesticide Applicator's License, or the willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- A valid NC Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all seasonal care tasks for properties, including pruning, weeding, mulching, pest management, hand watering, fertilization, flower installation and care, leaf removal, and debris cleanup.
- In-depth knowledge of pruning techniques for shrubs and small trees, including structural, aesthetic, and corrective methods based on season and plant type.
- Strong understanding of integrated pest management strategies, including pest identification, beneficial insects, chemical and non-chemical methods, sprayer calibration, and meticulous record-keeping.
- Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions, showing resilience in various climates.
