Position Overview
As a vital member of the Middlesex Health team, the Inpatient Care Physician is responsible for delivering exceptional and efficient healthcare services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the physician will:
- Implement evidence-based medical practices.
- Conduct timely evaluations of patients.
- Meet the standards set by the Hospital Quality Alliance National Reported Measures.
- Address all relevant medical and social issues daily, focusing on the primary reason for admission and other significant active concerns.
- Communicate effectively with Primary Care Physicians, nursing staff, case management teams, and colleagues.
- Complete comprehensive daily progress notes that are clear, legible, and informative.
- Document family meetings and discussions, including topics such as code status.
- Prepare detailed admission notes and discharge summaries.
- Provide appropriate oversight and availability to mid-level practitioners.
- Serve as a knowledgeable preceptor and role model for residents.
- Be accessible to residents for inquiries and patient care matters.

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
- An M.D. or D.O. license in the state of Connecticut.
- Medical staff privileges at Middlesex Hospital as a Hospitalist.
- Compliance with all medical staff bylaws for maintaining privileges.
- Board certification (or eligibility within two years of employment) in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine.
