Position Overview
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Registered Nurse provides essential nursing care in alignment with the established guidelines and protocols of Owensboro Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and oversees patient care plans, ensuring their effective implementation.
  • Continuously monitors, documents, and communicates the patient's condition to relevant parties.
  • Acts as the primary liaison among various healthcare disciplines to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Executes physician and nursing directives with precision.
  • Evaluates and coordinates discharge planning needs in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Identifies educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored instruction based on their unique backgrounds and readiness to learn.
  • Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act while performing all job functions.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing to be obtained within five years of employment.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Kentucky upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 45 days of employment.
Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking abilities and sound judgment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations and respond appropriately.
  • Specific competencies for the role are outlined in the departmental scope of service.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 lbs; infrequent lifting of heavier weights.
  • Frequent carrying and pushing/pulling of light to moderate loads.
  • Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Regular communication and auditory engagement with patients and team members.
