Position Title: Bartender

Department: Food + Beverage

Reports to: F + B Manager, Assistant Manager & Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt

The Bartender is tasked with delivering outstanding service to all patrons, consistently adhering to the service standards set forth by Mainsail Lodging & Development. This role involves the preparation of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, ensuring a high-quality dining experience in a welcoming and clean atmosphere. It is essential for the Bartender to hold all necessary alcohol server training certifications and licenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of cocktail preparation and mixology principles.
  • Enhance the guest experience by providing tailored beverage recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of various beverages, including spirits and wines.
  • Serve guests efficiently and courteously, adhering to the proper service protocols.
  • Demonstrate expertise in cocktail creation.
  • Ensure possession of essential tools for shift operations, such as pens, corkscrews, and bar equipment.
  • Exhibit the ability to pair wines with food selections.
  • Recognize that the bar serves a full menu and be prepared to assist with complete or shared meals.
  • Assist with food service as needed, including the ability to carry warm or hot plates.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, including preparation times, ingredients, allergens, and accompaniments.
  • Process payments for food and beverages served.
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Stay informed about daily specials, soups, drinks, and inventory levels.
  • Manage the bar station effectively and communicate any issues to management promptly.
  • Follow cash handling procedures and address any discrepancies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
  • Clean glassware, utensils, and bar tools.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to enhance guest service.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in hospitality is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a high-volume establishment.
  • Must possess a valid Macon-Bibb County Alcohol Handlers Beverage License.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in using technology, such as tablets and iPads.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more.
  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Corrected vision within normal range.
  • Willingness to work long hours as necessary.

Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to make quick, sound judgments.
  • Manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Work independently and provide direction to others when needed.
  • Effectively interact with diverse personalities within the workplace and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
