Overview

Reporting directly to the Camp Director, the Site Operations Supervisor is tasked with ensuring the overall physical condition and presentation of the camp facilities, guaranteeing that they are maintained in a clean, safe, and functional state. This role encompasses the general upkeep and repair of basic building systems, components, fixtures, and equipment.

The Site Operations Supervisor is available on-call 24/7 to address any emergency situations that may arise.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct general maintenance of buildings and grounds, which includes performing minor carpentry, cleaning, electrical work, furniture assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, snow removal, inventory management, and event preparations.
  • Oversee the proper operation and documentation of all building systems, including fire alarms, fire sprinklers, security systems, emergency lighting, signage, egress routes, access control, fuel distribution, elevators, generators, communication systems, waste disposal, and plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Manage the contracting process for maintenance and repair of all building systems, which includes scope development, competitive bidding, securing approvals, scheduling, implementation, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Act as the primary liaison with program Directors to ensure compliance with permitting and certification requirements, including local, state, and federal inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to ensure all pool, steam, and sauna systems are operational and assist in scheduling complex repairs and replacements.
  • Inspect the building envelope, including masonry, concrete, waterproofing, glazing, fire escapes, roofing, and access points, to ensure structural integrity.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Facilities on the annual Capital Improvement Program as determined by Branch Leadership and the Facilities Department.
Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in facilities management; education may supplement years of experience.
  • Facility certification in at least one major discipline (electric, HVAC, plumbing, or building design) is preferred.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands necessary for this role include:
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (mower, snow blower, tools, etc.).
  • Capability to operate machinery and tools.
  • Willingness to work under summer conditions, which may involve six-day work weeks and on-call responsibilities.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience in property management, preventative maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, pool maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Ability to supervise and guide maintenance staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of motivation, and a positive attitude towards the YMCA and its mission.
