We are seeking a skilled Geriatric Care Specialist to join our team at The Phoenix at Lake Joy. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents.
Job Summary:
The Geriatric Care Specialist is responsible for providing hands-on care, physical and emotional support to a consistent group of residents in our assisted living and memory care neighborhoods. This includes assisting with daily activities, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, and promoting overall well-being.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Personalized Service Plans (PSPs) that meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Provide regular updates to families on their loved ones' progress and any changes in condition.
- Ensure accurate completion of resident meal attendance sheets and provide room service as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all resident rights, including those related to dignity, autonomy, and confidentiality.
- Initiate and assign activities tailored to individual interests and abilities, ensuring socialization and engagement.
- Conduct daily checks on assigned residents for cleanliness, proper attire, continence issues, and changes in condition.
- Utilize proper sanitary procedures and universal precautions to prevent infections and maintain a healthy environment.
- Perform routine room inspections to ensure cleanliness and neatness, taking corrective action as necessary.
- Participate in laundry tasks, common area cleaning, and bathroom maintenance, reporting any hazards or concerns.
- Complete ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) according to individual PSPs, prioritizing resident comfort and safety.
- Respond promptly to security system alerts and resident call bells, taking appropriate action to address needs.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
- A high school education or equivalent may be required by state regulations.
- Prior experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is preferred.
- You must be at least 18 years old to perform personal care duties as part of this role.
- Knowledge and experience in assisted living, dementia care, or skilled nursing are beneficial.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, to accommodate resident needs.
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on location and experience. Benefits include competitive pay, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive work environment.
