Overview:


The role involves overseeing the respiratory health of both critical and non-critical patients, including adults, children, and infants, under the guidance of a physician with minimal oversight.

Conducts thorough patient evaluations and develops respiratory care strategies. Executes a variety of technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy tasks across all hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities:
Adheres to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Self-Leadership, Leadership of Others, or Leadership of Leaders.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Emergency response (Code Blue and White)
Management of airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
Administration of aerosolized medications
Ventilator setup and management
Oral care
Placement and upkeep of airway retention devices
Management of airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP
Oxygen delivery systems and therapeutic monitoring
Analysis of chest radiographs
Collection and evaluation of blood gases
Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation
Accurate and thorough documentation
Cleaning and replenishing of equipment and supplies as required
Participation in CAP and JC evaluations.
Registered Respiratory Therapists may take on the role of Shift Leader or Team Leader.

Advanced Practice Skills may encompass:
Management and monitoring of therapeutic gases, including INO and HeO2
Pulmonary Function Assessments
Assistance during bronchoscopy
Monitoring of hemodynamics
Waveform analysis
Nocturnal SpO2 assessments (Desaturation Studies)
Polysomnography
Transport responsibilities.
