Job Summary

The Community Engagement department within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Florida International University is seeking a qualified Component Leader/Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our middle school enrichment program, you will be responsible for implementing literacy, fitness, and social skills activities, as well as assisting in the implementation of Choice Classes. Your primary goal will be to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise students at all times to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Prepare and deliver weekly lesson plans that align with the program's curriculum and engage students in the learning process
  • Collaborate with outside contractors to ensure the smooth delivery of enrichment activities
  • Accurately record attendance and report any absences to the program manager
  • Follow the Code of Student Conduct when disciplining students
  • Assist with snack distribution, supervision, and clean-up in the cafeteria
  • Report any disruptive behavior to the program manager
  • Adhere to M-DCPS sign-in/out procedures and notify the program manager of any absences in advance
  • Report areas of concern to the program manager
  • Prepare supplies, materials, and other items needed before meeting with students
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • At least one year of experience working with children in the school system or as a certified teacher
Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Salary

$23.00 per hour
