Clean Harbors is seeking a highly skilled EOC Duty Operator I - Environmental Spill Response Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our emergency response operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and effective responses to environmental incidents.
Salary: $60,000-$80,000 per year (dependent on experience)
About the Role
The EOC Duty Operator I - Environmental Spill Response Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while handling incoming calls from clients, responding to emergency situations, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure seamless incident management. This individual must possess excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to multi-line telephone system calls from clients, addressing both emergency and non-emergency situations
- Screen and transfer calls efficiently, ensuring prompt attention to client needs
- Manage intake inquiries for incidentals, documenting relevant information accurately
- Complete phone screenings and assist clients in obtaining necessary paperwork
- Work directly with clients to ensure timely spill cleanups, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction
- Log information from client interactions into the ALERT system, maintaining accurate records
- Obtain authorization from senior staff members to verify spill cleanability
- Maintain excellent customer service and satisfaction standards
- Ensure adherence to all written protocols and procedures
- Efficiently identify and escalate emergencies to project managers
- Conduct telephonic regulatory reporting across US/Canada for regulatory compliance
- Submit reports to regulatory agencies, both written and online
- Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and regulatory officials through written and verbal means
- Return internal and external calls, emails, and facsimiles promptly
- Perform other job-related duties as required
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should have:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in customer service, call center, dispatch, or similar roles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with 35-40+ WPM typing speed
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Eligibility to work in the US
- Desirable: experience with RCRA, OSHA, and DOT regulations
