RN Medical Acute Float Specialist

Job Summary:

The RN Medical Acute Float Specialist is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for groups of patients in multiple nursing units for designated time frames. The ideal candidate will provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment
  • Assume responsibility for groups of patients in multiple nursing units for designated time frames
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications:

  • 1 year or equivalent hours of critical care (ICU or ER) experience within the last 3 years
  • California RN license
  • BLS certification and ACLS certification (both must be completed through an AHA authorized training center)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than 2 years of acute care experience as a registered nurse
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing

Supplemental Nurse Requirements:

  • Those nurses working 8 hour shifts must be available to work four shifts in a calendar month
  • Those working 12 hour shifts must be available to work three (3) shifts in a calendar month
  • All supplemental nurses must be available to work at least one (1) vacation between January 1 and June 30th and one (1) vacation between July 1st and December 31st of each calendar year
