About the Role

Fraser Shipyards Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Technician to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement safety programs and procedures to prevent employee injuries and illnesses.
  • Collaborate with employees and management to promote a safety-focused culture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses and provide training to employees on safe work practices.
  • Assist in monitoring safety compliance and facilitate incident investigations to enhance workplace safety.
  • Support customer safety initiatives and maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety protocols and collaborate with team members and customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to foster a safety-focused culture.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess hazardous conditions and implement effective safety measures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with relevant regulations such as OSHA and DOT.
  • A GED or high school diploma is required, a degree in safety or industrial health is preferred.
  • Experience in the maritime or shipyard industry, along with forklift operation, will provide additional advantages.
  • Candidates must also be physically capable of working in various conditions, including confined spaces and inclement weather.
