Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician Dialysis to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a key member of our hemodialysis unit, you will provide direct physical and emotional care to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed
  • Perform system and equipment checks, and maintenance as assigned
  • Prepare patients for dialysis by obtaining vital signs and weights
  • Set up, prime, and test dialysis machines
  • Monitor patients for changes in status and report to the charge nurse
  • Initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments, and clean machines per policy
  • Ensure adequate dialysate supplies are available
  • Assist with restocking the hemodialysis unit, and disinfecting equipment
  • Procure supplies from internal and external sources as needed
  • Direct patients and visitors to proper sources of information
  • File documentation in the computerized charting system
  • Assist in the orientation of new technicians to the dialysis unit
Requirements
  • Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) within 18 months of hire date
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
