Job Title: Customer Support Representative

Federal Signal is seeking a highly skilled Customer Support Representative to provide exceptional customer service and support throughout the sales life cycle of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interface with customers, sales representatives, and Federal Signal personnel via phone, email, chat, and electronic data interface (EDI) to provide timely and effective support.
  • Maintain order entry functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in receiving and processing orders.
  • Research and confirm original order and factory set information, purchase orders, return merchandise authorizations, and other pertinent data to resolve customer disputes.
  • Consult with customers on product warranties and recommend the correct product mix based on customer needs, desired effect, technology, and product/service application.
  • Expedite past due orders and long lead times to satisfy customer needs.
  • Utilize CRM to record communications from internal and external customers.
  • Review return material authorizations for accuracy and secure necessary approvals.
  • Continuously acquire and build knowledge on products, services, and manufacturing systems to provide customer assistance in selecting our product lines.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years' customer service experience in a business-to-business environment
  • Previous manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) business process management software experience, such as JD Edwards or SAP, highly preferred
  • eCommerce and online chat knowledge highly preferred
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to maximize customer satisfaction and acquisition
  • Consistently demonstrate professionalism, composure, courtesy, and integrity
  • Confident in adversarial situations, with strong dispute management and resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Astute listening skills
  • Capable of critically reviewing and analyzing situations and developing effective plans of action
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook applications
  • Attentive to detail
