Job Title: Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our Building Design Services team in the Columbus, OH office. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in developing water/wastewater related projects, working in a team environment to create 3D models, design drawings, and provide support during project planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop conceptual layouts at the start of the project
  • Create and maintain mechanical 3D Revit models for each project
  • Create, monitor, and/or review preliminary and detailed design drawings
  • Assist in the development of conceptual cost opinions and other engineering-related tasks
  • Work effectively in team situations, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with other teams
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with various engineering disciplines, office/project staff, and subcontractors
  • Manage personal workload and coordinate with team workload and project budgeting
  • Ensure project compliance with Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards
Requirements:
  • 4 years of experience with mechanical drafting/modeling for buildings or water/wastewater treatment design and construction projects
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling
  • Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to budget own time and work efficiently to achieve project goals
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional work experience in a similar role with a Consulting Engineering firm
  • Experience with BIM software
  • Strong experience with both 2D & 3D drafting
  • Experience with x'refing, layering, preparing quantity takeoffs and estimates
