This is a professional nutrition team position responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a nutrition education and food service program for Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and its customers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of a nutrition education and food service program for Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and its customers.
- Act as liaison between site personnel and program administrators.
- Advise and recommend on food service related areas, including cost control, menu development, production techniques, and purchasing.
- Communicate to staff and the public orally and in writing.
- Perform related work as required.
Creation and dissemination of articles to educate older adults and their caregivers about nutrition.
- 12 articles per year for a monthly newsletter.
- 1 article per year for Farmer's Market Coupons (disseminated in the Spring of each year).
- 12 additional articles per year for the Monroe County home delivered meals program.
Presentations to Senior Center Nutrition Program sites in Monroe County.
- 2 presentations per year to each of the 18 sites.
Teach nutrition education to customers as needed.
- Maintain records for nutrition education of customers.
Oversee the implementation of the contract with Monroe County Office for the Aging and other contracts.
- Communicate with key County personnel.
- Conduct site inspections.
- Monitor purchasing arrangements.
- Complete necessary paperwork.
- Participate in budgeting process.
Generate all menus needed according to CACFP or other standards per customer requirements.
Professional DevelopmentMaintain active membership in national, state, and local professional associations.
Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
Education and ExperienceGraduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in community health or nutrition with responsibility for program planning and development.
Special RequirementsRegistration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian. Possession of a valid certificate from the New York State Department of Education as a Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN).
Computer SkillsAbility to effectively use Nutri-Analysis and spreadsheet software required; word processing skills preferred.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAble to apply financial and budgeting concepts. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning AbilityDefines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables simultaneously.
