Clinical Screening Associate

As a vital member of our team, the Health Screening Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors. This position involves adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while assisting qualified donors throughout the screening process.
Key Responsibilities
1. In accordance with SOPs, guide donors through the screening process, which includes:
- Evaluating self-reported health histories, addressing fundamental medical inquiries related to the donation process, directing donors to medical personnel when necessary, and executing health assessments such as measuring blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.
2. After completing the necessary training, provide education to new donors regarding the therapeutic products derived from donated plasma, including:
- Clarifying the screening process, health tests conducted, appointment scheduling, donation fees, center policies, nutritional guidance, and other relevant information.
3. Potentially assist in registering applicants and transferring donors, depending on training completion and operational requirements.
4. Respond to telephone inquiries, providing accurate information or directing calls to the appropriate staff member.
5. Maintain vigilance regarding any donor reactions during or after the pheresis process, promptly notifying the relevant personnel.
6. Report any donor flow issues to the Group Leader or Supervisor.
7. Ensure precise documentation of donor information in the electronic donor management system as per SOPs.
8. Understand the policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
9. Uphold a clean and efficient workspace, ensuring that adequate operating supplies and forms are readily available. Adhere to all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, promoting safety in all actions.
10. Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel, donor, and center information.
11. May receive cross-training in various areas to fulfill business needs.
12. Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization's discretion, to meet operational demands.
13. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of three (3) months of experience in a clerical or customer service role, preferably within a medical or health provider setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Capability to comprehend, retain, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to follow basic guidelines and instructions.
- Must be able to interact with customers and observe equipment operations.
- Occasionally required to perform tasks while standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity.
- Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Regular exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in designated areas.
- May need to work overtime and extended hours to support operational needs.
