Position Overview:

Community Action Region VI is in search of a committed and enthusiastic educator for our 3-5 Head Start initiative in Jamestown. The Head Start Teacher will play a crucial role in fostering a secure, nurturing, and developmentally suitable educational atmosphere for young learners by overseeing a preschool classroom, which includes lesson planning, guiding teaching assistants, and monitoring educational outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that comply with Head Start performance standards and educational frameworks.
  • Establish a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of children.
  • Conduct continuous evaluations of children's development and utilize this data to tailor instructional strategies to cater to the unique needs of each child.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with families, ensuring regular communication regarding their child's development and well-being.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators, support personnel, and community partners to guarantee the effective delivery of program services.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation related to children's progress, attendance, and health.
  • Create a safe and engaging environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety protocols, including the administration of medication and emergency response.
  • Work cooperatively with all staff to uphold compliance with program regulations.
  • Follow Community Action's Code of Ethics and Confidentiality policy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate must possess an associate, bachelor's, or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. The ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and colleagues is essential. Candidates should be reliable and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Strong organizational skills are required, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Preference will be given to those with early childhood experience or familiarity with Head Start performance standards and curriculum.


Job Details:
  • Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: Starting at $19.50 per hour

  • Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday, no nights or weekends.
