Overview

This is an ongoing application process for Part-Time Faculty - Chemistry roles at Highline College. The department coordinator will evaluate applications to address staffing needs as they emerge. Openings may be pre-identified for upcoming terms or may arise unexpectedly to cover unforeseen vacancies. There may be periods when the department is not actively recruiting adjunct faculty.

Compensation Structure:
Salary is contingent upon the number of courses taught, initial placement, work experience, and assigned credits. The current compensation range per credit hour is $1,043.70 to $1, Please consult the collective bargaining agreement for additional details (See 205 Part-time Faculty Placement and Salary).

Key Responsibilities

Duties of Part-Time Faculty:

• Deliver instruction to students and foster effective learning environments;

• Ensure course content aligns with departmental standards;

• Maintain communication with the department coordinator and fellow faculty members;

• Meet and uphold certification requirements relevant to the faculty member's discipline, which may include vocational certifications and professional licenses;

• Assist students with educational planning or guide them to appropriate campus resources;

• Engage in professional development activities to remain current in assigned teaching areas;

• Adhere to applicable state and federal regulations;

• Uphold a standard of integrity and ethical conduct in professional responsibilities;

• Timely submission of required institutional and state documentation;

• Take reasonable care of college supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

• A Master's degree or higher in Chemistry.
