Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a garbage truck and other vehicles to collect garbage, yard debris, and recycling materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure proper condition for daily tasks.
- Inspect machinery and equipment daily to identify and address any issues or defects.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, and coworkers to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with removal of deceased animals from roadways within the City limits.
- Participate in safety training and make suggestions as necessary to improve safety practices.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Class B-CDL or higher.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of related equipment.
- Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods and work safely.
Work Environment:
The work environment is outdoors, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions, fumes, heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Selection Guidelines:
Formal application, rating of education and experience, oral interview, reference check, drug and alcohol testing, medical examination, and job-related tests may be required.
