Job Title: Manufacturing and Production Engineer

Cannon Industries is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing and Production Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for managing engineering and project management efforts, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion of engineering tasks, and administering engineering document control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage engineering and project management efforts to ensure timely and budget-friendly completion of engineering tasks
  • Administer engineering document control to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Supervise, mentor, and train subordinates to ensure effective team performance
  • Communicate with customers and production teams to ensure conforming product
  • Plan and allocate jobs to meet production schedules and deadlines
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player attitude with commitment, reliability, and follow-through
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proven record of strong leadership and motivational skills, coupled with sound decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to resolve problems using logical, systematic, and sequential approaches
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of best practices, methods, and techniques pertaining to building, facilities, and equipment maintenance and repair
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field required
Supervisory Specific Duties:
  1. Voice concerns while working with production staff, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Operations to address current or potential problems affecting production
  2. Review new project release packages to verify customers' specifications are achievable
  3. Participate in new product launch meetings
  4. Assist Quality Assurance with establishing inspection documents and procedures
  5. Recommend continuous improvements actions for improving work processes
Departmental Specific Duties:
  1. Quoting/Cost Estimating, including developing a Bill of Materials (BOM) for purchasing to facilitate pricing inquiries, calculating material usages, etc.
  2. Review new project release packages to verify customers' specifications are achievable
  3. Responsible for developing the manufacturing process for all parts
  4. Work with Production to improve efficiency on new and existing jobs
  5. Drive process improvements to generate cost reduction ideas
  6. Monitor actual job cost vs quoted job cost
  7. Help write the process sheets (travelers) for each job
  8. Analyze and improve processes for time/cost efficiencies
  9. Establish and maintain 'machine utilization status'
  10. Help to create new travelers and/or modify existing travelers as per post-program evaluation meetings
  11. Design machining, welding, inspection, and assembly fixtures
  12. Help provide technical direction to operators as needed
  13. Supervise tools, fixtures, etc. if needed
  14. Maintain engineering drawing and program files
  15. Collaborate with customers to achieve desired results
  16. Provide engineering support to meet production schedules
