Residential Mortgage Consultant

Educational Background: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mortgage or sales is required.

Professional Experience: A minimum of two years in residential mortgage lending is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and sustain a network of professional relationships, including real estate agents, builders, and other relevant parties.
• Engage with prospective borrowers to assess their mortgage requirements.
• Showcase Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust's mortgage offerings that align with the financial objectives of borrowers.
• Assist in completing the mortgage application and evaluate the financial and credit information of borrowers.
• Secure interest rates in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Gather or request all necessary loan documentation from the appropriate sources.
• Collaborate with the Centralized Processing Department to ensure that legal and appraisal tasks are ordered and managed efficiently.
• Keep borrowers informed about the status of their loans.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Identify referral opportunities within the organization (such as insurance and deposits).
• Must be registered with the NMLS Federal Registry.
• Manage all in-house and secondary market loans within your portfolio, including requests related to escrows, payments, and payoffs.
• Interact daily with clients and internal teams to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide exceptional customer service.
• Assist clients with the monthly billing and collections process.
• Monitor delinquent payments and follow up with clients regularly, while coordinating with Debt Management on collections.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to address any concerns or issues related to customers in your portfolio.

Reporting Structure:

• Reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Retail Lending.
• Collaborates closely with the Centralized Processing Department, legal professionals, and appraisers.
