Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for operating Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examination and explain procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Set up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screen for pregnancy.
  • Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, and more.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists to extend parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
  • Utilize special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas.
  • Adjust CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmit cases to on-call Radiologists through Tele-Radiology system.
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
  • Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast and complete the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member, or healthcare proxy.
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
Requirements
  • Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
  • Current License to practice as a Radiologist in New York State.
  • Current ARRT Radiology registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
