Nurse - Oncology Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Oncology Nurse to join our team at US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities. As a Registered Nurse in our cancer care center, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients.
Job Summary:
The Oncology Nurse will provide professional nursing care for patients with cancer, adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. This includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Maintain knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures and complete all chemotherapy charge forms.
- Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications.
- Perform venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Administer all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
- Document nursing assessments, patient teaching, and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
- Communicate all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
