Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembly and Testing: Perform testing and assembly tasks as instructed by Shop Leads or Operations Manager, ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Maintenance of a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Complex Assembly and Testing Operations: Perform diversified assembly and test operations to assemble highly intricate and/or large and expensive precision apparatus, machines, and equipment having critical tolerances and strict inspection/testing requirements.
  • Planning and Instruction: Aid in the planning of assembling and testing procedures, instruct and check work of Assemblers of lower classification and General Laborers.
  • Quality Control: Complete skilled fitting, aligning, adjusting, and secondary machining of product, ensuring that all assemblies meet the required quality standards.
  • Testing and Inspection: Perform complex testing procedures of sub-assemblies and units, ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Work from Complicated Assembly Drawings and Specifications: Work from complicated assembly drawings and specifications, ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Use of Precision Measuring Instruments and Gauging Devices: Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and gauging devices, ensuring that all products meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Light Preventative Maintenance and Housekeeping: Perform light preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties for areas and equipment in assigned work center.
  • Test Stand Equipment Operation: Set-up and operate without assistance test stand equipment for all products in grade.
  • Quality Assembly and Troubleshooting: Produce quality assemblies and attain a working knowledge of possible defects or malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
  • Understanding of Assembly and Testing Procedures: Fully understand and comprehend the assembly of sub-assemblies, the final assembly, and testing of products to ensure that the engineering performance specifications are satisfied in all areas.
  • Meeting Production Standards: Maintain or exceed the approved rate of production.
  • Attendance and Work Record: Maintain acceptable attendance record, acceptable overall work record, and purchase the required tools for the classification.
  • Training and Development: Complete training in all production areas.
  • Paperwork and Records: Complete paperwork and records in a timely manner.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Support inventory accuracy.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with next shift.
  • Reporting Defective Materials: Report defective materials or questionable conditions per established processes.
  • Maintenance of Work Area and Equipment: Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per P.M. charts.
  • Task Completion: Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision or Management.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work Environment: Work performed in a shop environment.
  • Workstations: May work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Exposure to Shop Environment: Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes.
  • Physical Demands: Standing entire shift, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and stooping throughout shift.
  • Material Handling Equipment: Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as hoist, positioners, pallet jacks, fork trucks.
  • Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Must be able to lift, push, and pull materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks.
Qualifications
  1. Demonstrated Ability to Use Precision Test Equipment: Demonstrated ability to use a variety of precision test equipment, measuring instruments, and gauging devices.
  2. Inspection and Testing: Must have demonstrated ability to perform inspection and testing, and adhere to production and quality standards and drawing specification of final and sub-assemblies.
  3. Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot quality, product, or production issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
  4. Assembly Technique: Requires a moderate degree of skill and assembling technique.
  5. Mechanical Principles: Experience and knowledge of basic mechanical principles, testing procedures, basic hydraulics.
  6. Education: High School Diploma or GED, with above average mechanical ability.
  7. Communication Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and follow processes, procedures, and policies.
  8. Verbal and Written Communication: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers, supervision, and management.
  9. Physical Demands: Must be able to meet physical demands, with or without accommodation.
  10. Shift Work: Must be able to work any assigned shift.
