Position Overview:

The Cost Management Specialist will oversee cost tracking, reporting, and control. Utilizing data from the project team, this role will monitor, report, and forecast the financial health of projects, focusing on costs, revenues, risks, and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather production data to facilitate informed decision-making by the project team.
  • Deliver precise and timely data analysis and presentations.
  • Generate look-ahead and look-back reports to compare field production against set targets.
  • Update monthly cost reports in CMiC, ensuring data verification, entry, and reconciliation with project budgets.
  • Review and provide supporting documentation for monthly financial statements.
  • Identify significant trends such as cost overruns, potential savings, and report these to the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to pinpoint critical cost items and forecasts.
  • Develop tools and reports to track productivity effectively.
  • Assist the project team in preparing and reviewing AWOs, back charges, and cost transfers.
  • Maintain close communication with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure proactive cost management.
  • Monitor progress billings.
  • Review subcontractor billings, payments, and accruals.
  • Conduct periodic visits to project sites to gain insights into the work being performed.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.

Position Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of monthly financial reporting and construction cost management practices.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in construction financial management is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and field terminology.
  • 2 to 5 years of field experience in construction is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Cost Systems (CMiC and HCSS preferred), Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with project stakeholders.
  • Able to work collaboratively and lead financial discussions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with an analytical and data-driven approach.
