Job Title: Category Expert

As a Category Expert at Golden Touch Group, Inc., you will serve as the category expert, providing best-in-class category and shopper insights along with actionable recommendations. You will work closely with the merchant team to develop and grow total category sales by analyzing various data sources, identifying business insights, and recommending solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Present expert, unbiased category insights with objectivity and the highest level of integrity
  • Drive category growth at Walmart for the categories under Golden Touch Imports has category advisory status
  • Proactively identify business opportunities and propose strategic and tactical solutions, utilizing fact-based data measures to develop solutions focused on meeting Walmart's strategic goals
  • Primary focus on developing, drawing, and executing planograms/modulars that maximize sales and profitability
  • Assist with the modular relay process to ensure space optimization, including sales per linear foot, space to sales, inventory optimization, and recommending adjacencies, space increases or decreases in remodels and project stores
  • Provide post-modular analysis of brand performance
  • Serve as the expert in using syndicated data to assist Walmart in making informed decisions based on actionable insights
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to provide insights, identify opportunities, and deliver solutions that drive profitability and category growth
  • Leverage learnings from cross-functional counterparts (Sales, Design and Development, Customer Insights, etc.) to deliver impactful recommendations to Walmart
Requirements:
  • Experience in category management; Walmart Advisor experience is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of category management philosophies, tools, and processes, with prior experience in a category advisor role preferred
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with Walmart and cross-functional teams
  • Strategic thinker and self-starter capable of managing multiple projects with aggressive deadlines
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in computer software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Proficiency in space planning software (ProSpace/JDA/Blue Yonder)
  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data metrics, software, and retailer POS systems (e.g., NPD, IRI, Nielsen, Retail Link, Luminate)
  • Experience analyzing retailer data and presenting key findings and recommendations to customers (Luminate experience preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence team members toward achieving goals
  • Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate the business needs of the Buying Team, while recognizing opportunities
