MRI Technologist

Job Summary:
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing MRI procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MRI equipment and protocols, as well as excellent communication skills to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for MRI exams by placing and positioning them on the exam table within the gantry.
- Select, determine, and ensure the appropriate radiofrequency and image coil is used based on the anatomical part being imaged.
- Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order.
- Verify that there are no contraindications to administration of the IV contrast agent and calculate contrast dose based on patient's weight.
- Perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
- Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in IV contrast administration.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging R.T. (MR) (ARRT) registration within eighteen (18) months of entry date into position.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS).
- Prior radiology experience, required. Experience in MRI, preferred.
Working Conditions:
The MRI Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with varying shifts, including weekends. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
