Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our team at the US Department of Health and Human Services. As an Outpatient Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform initial assessments for minor or major problems of patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Provide comprehensive physician care to patients based on the physician's medical care plan and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.
  • Administer oxygen, IV fluid, blood transfusions, and prescribed oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications.
  • Manage nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction as well as a variety of other drainage tubes.
  • Make nursing care assignments to various skill levels or professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and/or diagnostic procedures.
  • Closely observe post-operative patients and provide necessary care.
Requirements
  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
  • A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.
