Key Responsibilities:
- Preoperative Preparation: Conduct thorough patient assessments to gather medical history, allergies, and current medications. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary surgical instruments and supplies are sterile and available. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure in accordance with safety protocols.
- Intraoperative Responsibilities: Assist surgeons during procedures by providing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating needs. Monitor patient vital signs and anesthesia levels throughout the procedure, responding swiftly to any changes or complications. Document all relevant information in real-time, ensuring accurate records are maintained for each surgical case.
- Postoperative Care: Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, monitoring patients until they regain consciousness and stability. Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and activity restrictions. Ensure thorough handoff communication to the recovery room staff regarding patient condition and care needs.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. Participate in surgical team meetings and case discussions to improve care practices and address any concerns.
