Compensation, Benefits, and Advantages of the Nutritional Services Cook:

Key Responsibilities of the Nutritional Services Cook:

  • Collaborate with the Dietary Supervisor to fulfill daily operational tasks
  • Assess the quality and quantity of food needed, plan and prepare master menus, and oversee the development of therapeutic diet menus while managing food costs
  • Supervise food production and service operations, along with the departmental staff
  • Ensure food preparation meets nutritional standards and is handled economically, while optimizing time efficiency. Maintain a collection of standardized recipes adjusted for proper yield
  • Plan menus, procure food supplies, and delegate responsibilities for special events. Tailor the master menu cycle to meet individual and center preferences in consultation with the Dietician
  • Regularly evaluate food for taste, temperature, and presentation
  • In collaboration with the Contract Dietician, monitor residents' nutritional status through ongoing assessments, progress notes, and dietary care planning
  • Prepare the departmental budget on an annual basis
  • Conduct frequent inspections of all work and storage areas

Qualifications for the Nutritional Services Cook:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • One year of relevant experience is preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills with residents, their families, and all organizational levels
  • Ability to respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff
  • Completion of an approved state food service supervisor course
  • Strong organizational and management skills
