Pay Rate: $16-$17 Hourly
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in the clinic's operations, focusing on customer engagement, patient check-in and check-out processes, and ensuring that all information is accurately recorded in the systems utilized by Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia. This position involves handling payment transactions, scheduling appointments, and managing phone inquiries. All team members are expected to uphold professional, ethical, and respectful conduct in alignment with the company’s mission and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Welcome all patients and visitors warmly.
- Input and update patient demographics and information within the Epic system as necessary.
- Conduct insurance verifications for all patients.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills both over the phone and in person.
- Prepare correspondences, reports, memos, and forms as requested by medical staff or administration.
- Coordinate patient appointments that are convenient for both patients and physicians, including obtaining and entering referral information.
- Efficiently check patients in and out while maintaining professionalism.
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, and outstanding balances during check-in.
- Exhibit outstanding customer service skills in all interactions.
- Collaborate effectively with all departments within the organization.
- Print necessary documents and forms for new patients as required.
- Maintain inventory levels and submit supply orders to administration.
- Ensure the front desk and waiting area are kept tidy and organized at all times.
- Copy medical documents as requested, adhering to proper procedures.
- Distribute mail, faxes, and routine correspondences efficiently.
- Complete bank deposits as needed.
- Submit accurate End-of-Day (EOD) reports.
- During patient check-out, ensure all balances are collected and patients are charged for any Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or services provided.
- Strictly adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect patient privacy and comply with federal and state regulations.
- Perform additional job-related duties or projects as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role operates in a professional office setting, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This is primarily a sedentary role; however, there may be occasions requiring standing, bending, and lifting of 5 to 10 lbs, along with routine computer usage.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS
This is a full-time position. Workdays are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary based on job demands.
TRAVEL
Moderate to frequent travel may be required based on company needs and job responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Two to four years of experience in the healthcare sector.
