ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary expert and first point of contact for clients, addressing a wide range of inquiries related to coverage, eligibility, contractual matters, and compliance with government reporting. Prepare endorsements as requested by clients and provide ongoing resource, trend, and legal updates. Routine inquiries will be delegated.
  • For both new and renewal business, evaluate pertinent client data (e.g., census and experience data, insurance contractual requirements), conduct market comparisons by reviewing insurance rates and renewal information, and obtain quotes. Collaborate with clients, typically senior executives and managers, to strategize and make informed recommendations regarding coverage and exclusions; work alongside Producers to negotiate premium and commission rates to secure optimal alternatives.
  • Support marketing and new business development initiatives for producers, which includes preparing presentations and proposals, and participating in meetings with potential clients as part of a team;
    Conduct marketing and new business development for the employee's book of business.
  • Delegate administrative tasks to appropriate staff and oversee their completion.
Service

• Assist Marketing with the input and maintenance of the Agency Management System and/or PS4

• Gather missing information from the Producer/Account Manager Team along with loss information requests (including follow-up with relevant parties)

• Possess advanced knowledge of carrier websites for application detail input

• Analyze policies, coverages, and client operations to prepare insurance renewal options and advise on the best alternatives;

• Negotiate with carriers on behalf of clients to secure the best available premiums, commissions, and coverage;

• Prepare presentations for clients

• Collaborate with other teams and provide assistance as needed

• Work independently and effectively to resolve issues or enhance service promptly

• Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing tasks and demands

• Ensure that expert knowledge is consistently maintained

Marketing

• Prepare applications for submission to carriers (or marketing manager for large clients), including coverage analysis

• Negotiate with carriers to secure the best available premiums, commissions, and coverage;

• Conduct sales presentations as required;

Personal and Organizational Development

• Establish priorities and manage workflow to ensure all objectives are met;

• Maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, colleagues, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts;

• Keep proposals, workflow logs, and updates on the agency management system, manuals, or other required documentation current;

• Interact effectively with others using strong communication skills, cooperating purposefully, and providing information and guidance as necessary to achieve the business goals of the Company;

• Stay informed about industry trends, new product developments, coverages, legislation, and technology to continuously enhance knowledge and performance;

• Actively participate in community organizations;

• Present a professional image in both action and appearance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May supervise Assistant Account Manager and/or Administrative Assistant positions

KEY COMPETENCIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of Property Casualty lines of coverage and services;

• Ability to identify problems and respond appropriately;

• Capable of analyzing situations logically to draw sound conclusions;

• Advanced experience with Agency Management Systems, rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and service assigned clients and prospects;

• Proficient in navigating the Internet and various Microsoft Office programs, including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel;

• Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills;

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively;

• Capable of working independently and efficiently with or without direct supervision;

• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment as well as independently;

• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to manage Account Management staff and workflow

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. A college degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

5-10 years of experience in a mid-size brokerage

• Proficient in various Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands.

• High level of interpersonal skills required to handle sensitive and confidential situations. This position requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• California Property and Casualty License required;

Valid Driver License required.

The national average salary for this role is $ $ in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications, and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
