Job Title: Production Shift Manager

Job Summary:

Manta Resources is seeking a highly skilled Production Shift Manager to lead and support the production department in the conversion of raw materials into finished goods in the most cost-effective manner while adhering to food quality, food safety and industrial safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Plan: Oversee the operation of the shift, ensuring efficient production processes and meeting productivity targets.
  • Measure and Evaluate: Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators, including staffing levels, against established standards and goals.
  • Monitor Equipment: Collaborate with food production and engineering teams to ensure optimal equipment performance and communicate equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Develop Performance Standards: Establish and maintain performance standards for all aspects of food production.
  • Train and Develop: Train, develop, and coach production leads and employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure Quality and Safety: Ensure that quality, safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed, and compliance with FDA, HACCP, and SQF standards is maintained.
  • Lead Interactions: Lead interactions with local, state, federal, and third-party inspectors to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage Productivity: Monitor, manage, and improve employee productivity, providing constructive feedback, coaching, and progressive discipline as needed.
  • Review and Maintain Records: Review and maintain time records and performance reports.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures, and undertake disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Identify and Resolve Concerns: Identify and resolve employee, customer, and/or supplier concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food production and minimum 7 years of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Experienced with and capable of demonstrating a strong understanding of HACCP or related food safety protocols, previous food processing experience, supervisory experience, manufacturing knowledge, and understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues, strong problem-solving, math, and analytical skills, ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement, good planning and priority setting skills, ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, and ability to work in varying production environments (heat and cold).
