Crew Leader Position

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of project work, ensuring efficient completion of tasks.
  • Deliver skills training on-site and facilitate meaningful discussions with the crew.
  • Promote individual corps member development and foster a healthy team environment.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins, debriefs, and evaluations to facilitate crew member growth.
  • Mentor the Assistant Crew Leader through delegation and constructive feedback.
  • Adhere to all ALCC policies, maintain professional boundaries, and represent the program in a positive light, including maintaining a substance-free work environment.

Project Management & Implementation

  • Train and motivate a crew of 4-5 young adults to effectively complete conservation projects on public lands.
  • Delegate project work and invest in crew members to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Oversee the quality and quantity of project work on-site.
  • Manage tool and equipment inventory, establishing maintenance routines as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics with project partners, crew members, and ALCC staff.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Monitor and promote the crew's physical and emotional safety on and off the work site.
  • Foster a culture of safety by conducting safety briefings and standdowns.
  • Communicate and manage field incidents with ALCC staff.
  • Initiate emergency medical services in the event of an injury or incident.
  • Transport crew and equipment safely in ALCC vehicles with trailers.

Administration

  • Report project accomplishments by measuring and documenting outcomes.
  • Compile notes and documentation on crew work hours, group dynamics, and incident management.
  • Manage credit card purchases, documenting and reporting all transactions.

Essential Functions:

  • Frequently required to walk, hike, sit, and talk or listen.
  • Required to use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to drive an ALCC vehicle; must have an insurable driving record.
  • Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English.
